Our Story

Lawbelco was born from a simple belief: the best beef comes from patience, care, and a deep respect for the land and animals. Nestled on the Mid North Coast of NSW, our pastures are carefully managed to nurture cattle that grow naturally, slowly, and without growth hormones.

Our approach is thoughtful and deliberate. By raising only a limited number of cattle at a time, we can focus on their wellbeing, the balance of the ecosystem, and the quality of the beef we produce. Every animal is allowed to mature at its own pace, reflecting our commitment to natural development and harmony with the land.

Whether destined for exceptional beef or for breeding, each animal reflects Lawbelco’s philosophy: quality, integrity, and respect from paddock to plate. This dedication ensures that every cut of beef carries the richness, texture, and flavour our cattle are renowned for.

A brief history

Lawbelco’s journey began in December 2021, when we took over a farm that had been neglected for many years. Fences were broken, gates askew, paddocks overgrown, and watercourses choked. Our first year was wet, which limited what we could achieve, but it also gave us time to assess the land and plan a path forward.

We started with the basics: clearing paddocks, repairing fences and gates, removing overgrown vegetation, and restoring infrastructure. Soil analysis guided our next steps, and we began a paddock-by-paddock program to rejuvenate the land — ripping, harrowing, and reseeding to rebuild fertile, productive pastures. Cover crops like Sunn hemp, winter rye, and cow peas were introduced to improve soil health and biomass, laying the foundation for a regenerative system.

By November 2023, we were ready for our first lot of heifers, and in December 2024 we purchased a full-blood bull to begin our selective breeding program. We breed over summer so that calves are born in spring, when conditions are optimal and pastures abundant, reflecting our careful, natural approach to cattle rearing.

Along the way, we’ve rebuilt water infrastructure, installed additional stock tanks and troughs, constructed sheds, cleared waterways, and restored machinery — all essential to supporting a sustainable, small-batch Wagyu operation. Every step has reinforced our philosophy: patience, care, and respect for the land and animals.
